4to (227 x 165). pp, (xx), 172, (12 index). Two folding plates at end, the first with a small repaired tear at the fold. Woodcut of coat of arms on title. Small stamp of "L.RENIER" at foot of title page. Some light foxing and browning. Contemporary vellum a little soiled. A work on the Roman amphitheatre at Capua. Mazochius (1684-1771), a professor of Greek and Hebrew was the discoverer of the Roman remains at Herculaneum. Copac lists 7 copies. A second edition was published in 1797.
